Ergo Non Sum – Poem-18 (My Life And Quest)
“I think, therefore I am,” Descartes
Was shrewd enough to say;
Whereby unwittingly he showed the way
How not to be.
“I think, therefore I am,” Descartes
Was shrewd enough to say;
Whereby unwittingly he showed the way
How not to be.
I only know she set my heart aflame
In youth when tempest tossed;
In youth, all bearings lost,
Her grace my anchorage, her love my aim.
Till in yourself you know
What self you are:
Nothing to make or mar,
Nothing to change or grow,
From all set free:
The world in you, not you in it to see.
The world’s an extension of you—
Nothing outside.
Let the mind be still,
Like a clear lake
Where no waves break.
